Splashy Getaway in a Boat

Planning a destination wedding that involves water?  If so, a getaway by boat may be the perfect finishing touch.

Here are a few suggestions if this type of getaway is calling you from the sandy shore.  Have a destination in mind.  That way you can schedule assistance at the other end of your getaway to help you to your hotel. 

Decorating the boat with lights and cans can add romance to your adventure.  Be creative with the type of boat you choose and explore your options.  Brides and Grooms choose every type of boat from a speedboat to a romantic rowboat.  If boating is a hobby for you and your loved one, you may choose the boat you frequently enjoy together.

Don’t forget, you may get a little wet …

Have the boat waiting for you after the reception. If it is dark, have lights hung on it so your guests can wave goodbye as you speed away.  Be aware that your dress might get a little wet (since you are in water), but remember that the event is over…all you have in front of you is relaxation with your new husband on your honeymoon. Have a plan as to where you are driving the boat to and docking, possibly have someone waiting for you to help you get it out of the water or take over so you can get to your hotel room.

Don’t forget a captain hat for the driver and always wear your safety vest in case of an accident!
