How much does an average wedding cost in the United States? Who is paying for the wedding? These are touchy subjects for two people in love to contemplate.
According to theweddingreport.com the average cost of a wedding in the United State in 2010 is approximately $24,070; which is quite a bit less than the average cost of a wedding of 2007 $28,730. We can all postulate or theorize regarding the variables that would affect this total.
Brides … Grooms … don’t panic! There are many, many ways to bring this figure down to your budget level and we will present many ideas for budgeting and trimming options in our future blog posts.
Who is paying for the wedding? According to theweddingreport.com here are the people/parties that contribute to the funding of a wedding:

These numbers don’t illuminate who is actually bearing the cost of the wedding; they suggest who contributes, but not how much.
In 19% of all weddings, the brides’ parents pay for the wedding. However, nearly one-third or 32% of brides and grooms pay for the wedding themselves. Fifteen percent of all couples share the cost with both sets of parents contributing.
